Taking a picture with the Incite's 3.0-megapixel camera can be as simple as clicking a button or as professional as desired. With a landscape viewfinder, users hold the camera horizontally for a real camera feel.
Photographers can choose what size and quality they want for their photo, white balance settings, or add color effects for a black and white, photo negative, sepia or aqua cast.
Panorama setting lets users take multiple photos that are automatically stitched together for one large photo. Continuous shot takes a continuous series of three or more shots in rapid succession, ideal for fast moving scenes. A simple image editor lets users crop and rotate photos on the Incite.
Images in the photo gallery can parade across the screen in a slideshow, become the phone's background and be saved or edited (which includes cropping, zooming or rotating the photo). Each image is as easy to see as it is to take, with 1600 x 1200 px clarity as the default option. Photos can also be taken with 2048 x 1536 px, 640 x 480 px and 320 x 240 px resolution. Consumers can get twice as close to a shot with 2x zoom and set a self-timer to get into the picture.
Video recording is also available with five formats to record in - WMV, MP4, 3GP, ACC and H.263. Videos come in four resolution options: 400 x 240 px, 320 x 240 px, 128 x 96 px and a default 176 x 144 px.
Both photos and videos taken with the 3.0-megapixel camera can be shared with others in messages and live or recorded video can be streamed through the Video Share application.
The highest resolution options and the camera itself are some of the best users find on any phone, but the images sometimes have a dull cast to them. The camera works best in sunlight. The camera and camcorder options are simple to use and plentiful.
The Incite's camera is above average. While other camera-focused handhelds offer more features and higher-megapixel lenses, the Incite is an all-in-one device with an acceptable camera for taking snapshots at impromptu moments. By comparison, the iPhone 3G has a 2.0-megapixel camera.
