BARCELONA, Spain - LG Mobile has not announced any new mobile phones prior to the Mobile World Congress, besides the KM900 Arena, but PhoneReport has captured few devices during the preparations for the opening of the event.
One of the most fascinating concepts LG is presenting is the transparent phone, which somewhat resembles the LG Shine, but has a completely transparent sliding keypad, the only visible items being the numeric labels. The device is not a fully-fledged mobile phone, but a "next generation design" only, as LG calls it.
Another impressive concept, and a visible effort from LG to counter the effects of global warming, is the LG Solar Cell Phone. The manufacturer already retails a solar Bluetooth car kit, which PhoneReport has reviewed in the past, but this time, the device is simply a concept. During this event Samsung is actually unveiling a eco-friendly phone to the market, the Blue Earth.
Among the tagged devices, the LG GB102 was present, an entry-level device with a 1.5" CSTN display with 128x128 pixels of resolution, and 65k colours. The phone has dual-band GSM connectivity only, and is likely to be a very low-end entry-level device, targeted at emerging markets.
The LG GB130 is also an entry-level phone, but it has a larger CSTN display, of 2" with 128x160 pixels of resolution. The GB130 also comes with FM radio, unlike the GB102.
Adding to the low-end device portfolio, a slightly more expensive LG GB250, with clamshell form factor. The phone has two displays, one with 2", and the other, a mono 1" screen. HSDPA at 1.8mbps is included, showing an improvement for devices in this market. The camera hasn't improved in this market, and is staying at 1.3 megapixel. The GB250 also has MP3 and Bluetooth v2.1.
The LG GM 730 is a much higher "spec'd" phone, which brings HSDPA at 7.2mbps, HSUPA at 2.0mbps, a 3" display with WQVGA resolution (400x240) and 262k colours. According to the technical features list, the phone has an "enhanced graphical UI" with "GUI accelaration", as well as Windows Media Player 10, A-GPS, geo-tagging, and microUSB connectivity.
The LG KT770 is also a high-end phone, and as previously rumoured, it runs on the S60 v3.2 "open OS", it has A-GPS, a 5 megapixel camera, and many third-party applications, such as QuickOffice, Fring, and Locr.
To finalize, an LG Prada watch phone might be unveiled, although there is no information on the device.
