BARCELONA, Spain - HTC has officially announced the upgrades to the successful Touch Pro and Touch Diamond devices, and has ressurected the tilting display from the TYTN II.
Taiwanese High-Tech Computer also launched the Push Internet concept on these mobile phones. The system is scheduled to download specified web pages at determined times, in order to minimize waiting times. Chief Marketing Officer John Wang said that the service will be "like havign a conciérge service", and emphasized on the fact that there will be "zero wait", even though these devices have fast HSDPA connectivity at 7.2mbps download speed.
HTC's "focus on people" motto was the base of the people centric communication concept, which joins applications such as history of conversations of every contact, voice, SMS and email for easy and fast access. This concept is present on the two devices.
"The HTC Touch Pro2 and HTC Touch Diamond2 introduce a mobile communication experience that simplifies how we communicate with people in our lives whether through voice, text or email," said Peter Chou, president and CEO, HTC Corp. "HTC is delivering the latest, cutting-edge sophistication in a broad portfolio of mobile phones that improve how people live, work and communicate."
The two mobile phones are Windows Mobile 6.5-capable. Microsoft Senior Vice-President Andy Lees confirmed that the new version of the operating systemwill be annnounced this afternoon. The phones might ship with Windows Mobile 6.1, but a free upgrade will be offered to all users.
In terms of software, HTC's TouchFLO 3D user interface has been integrated with Windows Mobile, so that it offers more consistency in throughout Windows Mobile applications and menus.
The HTC Touch Diamond2 is slightly larger than its predecessor, and features a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.2" TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with 480x800 pixels WVGA resolution, microSD memory card support unlike the 4GB built-in memory limit on the first Diamond, HSDPA and HSUPA, A-GPS, and Wi-Fi.
The HTC Touch Pro2 brings back the tilting screen from the TYTN II, but has the option of having a simple slide-out keyboard, such as in the first Touch Pro. The phone features a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 3.6" TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with WVGA resolution, microSD memory card support, HSDPA and HSUPA, A-GPS, a QWERTY keyboard, and Wi-Fi.
Chou has confirmed to PhoneReport that a Google Android-based HTC phone will launch tomorrow. The predicted recipients are NTT DoCoMo, T-Mobile, and Vodafone.
