5800-2-300x159 Nokia 5800 & Britney Spears Share The SpotlightNokia plays peacock, and picks a fine time to spread its feathers! In one of the most visible product placement marketing moves Nokia has ever undertaken in the US, Nokia gives the world a glimpse of their all new touchscreen smartphone. It featured a scantily clad, provocatively gyrating, sexy blonde woman, and a hot pop music soundtrack to boot!

While watching the end to ABC's news program "20/20", the inimitable journalist Barbara Walters began profiling Britney Spears and her apparent triumphant return to sanity and commercial success. Near the end of the segment, they announced the world premier of her newest music video to Spears' song "Womanizer". This is highly irregular for any artist, much less one as Britney Spears, to debut a video on public network television. Premiers this big are usually reserved for MTV or VH1, not ABC, and never on "20/20". I watched closely, waiting to see how great she looked, what her latest song would sound like, and what shocking fireworks Britney would provide the tabloids after seeing the video.

It didn't take long for the fireworks to begin, and it wasn't sparked by the Britster. Oh no! This blatant display was flashed early and closely! It was the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the all new touchscreen marvel from the Finland mobile giant. Almost as soon as the video began, the device is pushed into the camera, Nokia insignia emblazoned for the world to see!

Since Britney Spears is the most searched person on the web, I expect the video will be the biggest video on YouTube tomorrow. And Nokia will be front and center, smiling at the camera.

"Hello, America. Meet my friend, the 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen device. I must be pretty cool. Everyone loves Britney, and she likes me..."

Nice move. They'll fly off the shelves now.
