The Xperia X1 has been considered for long as Sony Ericsson's smartphone jewel, and there have been many rumours in the market since it was revealed, or you could say leaked...
Well those specifications' rumours are over, and now WM Experts had the chance of reviewing the Xperia X1, and the official X1's specifications are:
Some of the features aren't anything new or striking, such as HSDPA, although the HSUPA is most definitely an upcoming technology, and most networks haven't integrated it yet. HSUPA has a fast upload speed, which is useful to send emails with large attachments and would be useful in the latest NSeries which feature Share on Ovi, in order to upload full-resolution pictures and long videos in high-quality.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are a must in smartphones nowadays, as there are quite a lot of hotspots available in developed countries which consumers can make use of, where on the other hand, Bluetooth is targeted to all kinds of consumers, for music, internet connection, and data transfer.
GPS is the latest feature on smartphones, and should gradually replace car GPS modules, and play a role in Geotagging.
A 1500mAh battery is imperative, and this is the section where Sony Ericsson's rival Nokia is failing, as with more features, more juice is drained. Sony Ericsson really got it right this time.
The CPU is impressive, 528Mhz should keep the integrated Windows Mobile 6.1 Operating System running smoothly and all animations flowing as supposed.
The resolution is equally impressive, being 800x480, another section where Nokia needs improvement from it's addicted QVGA resolution.
Other small but always necessary components are the microSD slot and 3.5mm jack for sound. My only worries are the RAM and internal memory available. The phone isn't directed to imaging, so a 3.2 megapixel camera was thought enough from the SE team, I hope it isn't bad as some phones I have seen, such as the 8800 Arte. Video recording should be of decent resolution at a good frame rate, even though the phone isn't directed at imaging, it's necessary to keep up with the standard.
