The consumer had travelled to the UK with his T-Mobile G1, and had made sure that data roaming, data sync, and 3G were turned off.

A T-Mobile costumer care supervisor revealed to the distressed user that the device always accessed internet, regardless of what options are set off. This not only drains the battery, but also causes unnecessary costs, such as the one in this case.

T-Mobile USA, the only network in the US to offer the HTC Dream G1, the first handset based on Google Android, offers data roaming to the UK at US$10/MB.
