hdandroid-198x3001 Telstra Leaks Second HTC Android PhoneHTC is all set to launch a brand new touch phone using a combination of the Google Android operating system and Linux based software written by HTC. It is believed that the new HTC touch phone will take on the Apple's iPhone 3G and the new Pre offering from Palm.

Executives from Telstra, after reviewing the Palm Pre at CES, said that the expected HTC phone is “better and more functional”.

“We have seen both and we believe that the new HTC phone will be a real competitor to the iPhone and the Pre which at this stage looks nice but is still not delivered to market”.

HTC executives who were at the show, but not exhibiting, have refused to comment on their new phone which is expected to release in the second quarter of 2009.

HTC Windows Mobile phone-enthusiasts might be disappointed in the first instance, but they should become comfortable with Android OS as the success of T-mobile G1 says everything about the Google's operating system.

More information on this phone could might be revealed at Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona next month.
