Sony Ericsson W880i: The sleek and slim design always impresses the cell phone buyers. This gave rise to the competition to introduce the slimmest cell phone a company can manufacture. Sony Ericsson provided its version of slimmest cell phone with introduction of W880i.
The slimmest candy bar ever produced by Sony Ericsson requires other than usual equipment for the measurement. The 9.4mm is hardly 70 grams in weight but still gives a good grip and feel comfortable in hands or with ears.
The walkman cell phone comes in traditional grey/black with stainless steel front and rubber finished rear casing. W880i has great looks with its small keypad but is a bit difficult to operate on such tiny buttons. The multi connector port is located at the bottom conventionally. A primary camera is located on the back while a secondly camera has its place beside the ear piece. SD card slot has a good place near the edge.
The brilliant 1.8 inch screen shows 262,000 colors. The text was also visible when the cell phone was held in bright sunlight. W880i locates 2 mega pixel camera. The display screen work as a view finder and the cell phone would have to be held horizontally while taking snaps. The VGA camera on the front makes self portraits and video conferencing possible.
The orange button the right of the cell phone activates the music player. The Walkman 2.0 by Sony Ericsson is gaining a lot of popularity because of its ease of use and managing multimedia audio files easily. We never had any problem with Sony Ericsson W series audio quality and 880i continues with the tradition.
1GB SD card is provided in the sealed box so storing MP3 and high resolution images aren't any problem at all. Blue Tooth capability is also there. Software package makes W880i sync with PC.
We found Sony Ericsson W880i a lot better than its Samsung rival. When we are writing this review, the cell phone was available for the price of about $600 which seem to be affordable for having such features as included in W880i.
