To paraphrase Mark Twain, it appears that Motorola reports of death have been greatly exaggerated. At least that is the impression that we have, after spending some time with the new Motorola Krav ZN4 the company built for Verizon Wireless. The new Krav is a touch screen interactive media consumption equipped with a host of clever tricks up its sleeve.

As a multimedia device, the Krav supports all of Verizon 3G services, including television and music, and the solution Verizon mobile e-mail, GPS navigation, speaker independent voice, and even visual voice mail . A 3.5 mm headphone jack port means that people can use their own headphones to listen to music and television, while stereo Bluetooth gives users the ability to do so wirelessly. A microSD card slot on the device has been tested with 8 GB cards, which should provide plenty of room for music and photos taken with the Krav 2 megapixel camera.

While Krav sport a new version hit the Verizon user interface on its capacitive touch screen, which works pretty well, the real magic here is built in the transparency of Krav flip. HUNK not a mere coincidence plastic, the Krav coverage layers of metal mesh inside it that the reader not only without the ear speaker son clear, but the whole valve itself is touch and can be used to control the device without having to open up. Although you can not use the flip closed write messages, buy music, or browse through the main menu, you can use it to read messages, control your music, and navigate the roads VZ Navigator. Users can also view photos and watch TV, too. Motorola has included a lock button located on the right edge of Krav, which turns off this feature when the phone is thrown into a bag or pocket.

There are many more that the Krav Ming-inspired front flip do. As mentioned above, the new touch UI Verizon is very good and very sensitive. The large WQVGA (400×240 pixels) display touch screen requires only light touch to activate, and provides haptic feedback vibration to the touch. The user interface also works very quickly, too. High accelerometer trafficking automatic screen rotation tasks for applications such as browser, mobile TV and the virtual keyboard, which works in QWERTY when held horizontally. Turn the device back to portrait mode, and users can use the key feature of 12 per ITAP predictive keyboard or triple-tap non-predictive text entry. The QWERTY keyboard is a bit difficult to use because of Krav to return to the path, but it is still large to enter the URL and some other tasks.

The browser above is a small semi-transparent finger control that makes it easier to select the small screen links with a finger. I was surprised at how it works, and I could see other platforms to adopting a similar pointer to navigation easier. The browser also supports Flash just enough to be able to view videos on YouTube, too.

The Motorola Krav ZN4 is offered in a dark gray system with soft-touch back around the paint and a polished metal frame on the front. Krav battery is claimed to be good for a little over 4 hours of talk time or 20 days of standby time. At 130g, it’s not exactly light, but we believe it provides many features that makes the weight worth it.

The Motorola Krav ZN4 is now available from Verizon Wireless for U.S. $ 149.99 after a $ 50 mail-in rebate for the purchase with one to two years.
